The Rebel Shiraz has been produced as a Rose’. This is also known as a White Shiraz, where the Shiraz (red) grapes are pressed straight away and do not ferment with their skins as with a dry red Shiraz. The juice is pink and goes through a white wine process. Therefore the term White Shiraz refers to the way the wine is treated, not its colour. It is the perfect medium dry Rose' – serve quite chilled. The Rebel Shiraz is still, slightly tart, strawberryish with a gentle hint of tannin.
This photo shows Ms Rebel Morrow and her equestrian mount Oaklea Groover. Rebel and Oaklea are, at present, busy competing in equestrian events all over the nation and overseas to gain valuable experience and enhanced expertise for the upcoming Beijing Olympics in 2008.

NEW MEDALS Our 2007 Oaklea Verdelho, which we have produced under screw cap, has collected a Bronze Medal at the RASQ Toowoomba Wine Show and Mediterranean Challenge 2007. This sensational Verdelho is the third produced by our Estate and we have no doubt that it will continue the fine wine drinking tradition that has been set by our 2005 and 2006 vintages. (So far, our Verdelho vintages 2005, 2006, 2007 have been awarded The 2007 Verdelho will be officially released later this year. Our 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc Bin 19 was also awarded a Bronze Medal. This follows up the Bronze Medal it won at this show in 2006. This fine red wine has now been awarded 1 x Silver Medal and 3 x Bronze Medals/Awards. This wine was "Wine of the month" at the award-winning Clarion Hotel (Mackay Marina), Mackay Harbour. |

The Story Behind KELPIE'S RUN When one’s vineyard is boutique in size (5000 vines), and has trees surrounding it, then there tends to be bird nuisance around ripening and picking time. Our Estate has one vineyard block completely enclosed with permanent netting and we use throw-over bird netting over the other vineyard rows. Bird nuisance can still occur , so we have trained our five kelpies, Gina, Jack, Tara, Ned and Kelly to chase birds away from the vineyard rows. This is a job they love doing and would run all day if we let them. We have decided to dedicate our dry white and red range from 2003 to our kelpies, who love to “run” in our vineyard and really earn their keep at the business end of the season. |
